The Dreamsocket software shop focuses on building media playback solutions for the entertainment industry. We created the core software for Disney, CBS, Cartoon Network, CNN, and others to run their businesses on. We’ve worked with a thousand different ad solutions, tracking integrations, and interactive requirements. You name it, we’ve developed, tested, and deployed it. As any serious developer in this domain space will tell you, building enterprise video players and media applications has not been a straightforward process with the current tools. The existing Adobe components are difficult to extend, the low-level Flash APIs don’t always work correctly and there quite simply have been no robust media frameworks available. YouTube created a surge in media-based Flash development, but it threw developers into a canoe without a paddle.
When we looked at the current state of this Flash development space, we felt obligated to share our internal code and fill this void. No longer do developers have to bang their heads against a wall like we have. They now have access to the past six years of our lives—countless hours of research, coding, re-architecting, and battle testing, there for the taking. We hope to not only enable developers, but progress Flash media development as a whole — a win for us and a win for you.
