Meet Flex Authority writer Gordon Smith.

Gordon (a.k.a. Flack) is one of the original developers of Adobe Flex, having been on the Flex team since it was created at Macromedia back in 2002. He works mainly on the runtime framework and has been closely involved with a variety of features such as deferred instantiation, the component lifecycle, the adoption of ActionScript 3, runtime localization, and support for AIR.

Before Flex, Gordon worked on Macromedia Director for more than ten years. His ancient history includes a doctorate in theoretical physics, which means he actually knows the difference between Math.sin() and Math.cos().

Gordon lives in San Francisco with his partner of 17 years. His outside interests include foreign travel, hiking, good food, classical music, and social entrepreneurship.
